Overview

Chitwan National Park and Bardia National Park are two of Nepal’s premier safari destinations. Both National Parks offer incredible opportunities to observe wildlife in their natural habitats and experience the rich biodiversity and cultural heritage of Nepal. Whether you choose to explore the lush jungles of Chitwan or the remote wilderness of Bardia, a safari in either park promises an unforgettable adventure amidst some of the most breathtaking landscapes in Asia.

Day to day itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

After landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by a representative of Malaika Travel at the arrival gate who will then transfer you to your hotel. If you have time, you can either visit the city or relax at the hotel to overcome your jet lag.

Day 2: Fly to Nepalgunj and drive to Bardia National Park

Today, we’ll begin our journey by taking a scenic one-hour flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, followed by a two-hour drive to Bardia National Park in western Nepal. After breakfast, we will head out for our adventure. After settling in, you’ll enjoy lunch before exploring the nearby Tharu village and learning about its culture. You’ll visit the elephant breeding center, and then you can end your day by watching the stunning sunset over the Karnali River. It’s a simple yet unforgettable experience in the heart of Nepal’s wilderness.

Day 3: Explore Bardia National Park (jeep safari)

After breakfast, we’ll embark on a thrilling jeep safari and explore the wilderness of Bardia National Park. It is home to a diverse range of wildlife including rhinos, wild elephants, Bengal tigers, swamp deer, and Gangetic dolphins. The park offers an unforgettable safari experience. We’ll also visit the crocodile breeding center and the Tharu Museum to learn more about the local culture and conservation efforts. Accompanied by experienced nature guides, we will delve into the heart of the jungle, tracking the wildlife and immersing ourselves in the natural beauty of our surroundings.

Day 4: Explore Bardia National Park (walk)

After breakfast, we’ll set out for a jungle walk with our knowledgeable nature guide. Walking allows us to closely observe the rich diversity of the jungle, grasslands, and rivers, providing an intimate encounter with nature and wildlife. Our guide will share insights into the habitats and plant and animal life, as well as offer valuable tracking tips to enhance our wildlife watching experience.

Day 5: Bardia to Kathmandu

Today is the last day in Bardia. After having breakfast, we will depart to Nepalgunj Airport and fly to Kathmandu.

Day 6: Kathmandu to Chitwan National Park

After an early breakfast, we will embark on a scenic drive to Chitwan National Park, situated 165 kilometers from Kathmandu. The journey offers stunning views as we descend along the winding road besides the Trishuli River. Upon arrival, we’ll check into the hotel and attend a briefing about the activities planned for our stay. We will then take a village tour and witness the mesmerizing sunset on the banks of the Rapti River amidst the sub-tropical jungles of Chitwan. In the evening, we’ll enjoy dinner which is accompanied by a cultural program featuring traditional tribal dances that are unique to the region.

Day 7: Chitwan jungle safari

After breakfast, our day is filled with exciting jungle activities. We will start with a thrilling canoe ride down the Rapti River, where we may encounter Gharial and Mugger crocodiles, freshwater dolphins, otters, and various water birds. Alternatively, you can opt for bird watching or nature walks to explore the diverse flora and fauna of the park. Later, we’ll visit the elephant breeding center to learn about conservation efforts. After having lunch and resting, we will embark on a jungle safari either on an elephant or by jeep, where we might have the chance to spot rare wildlife such as the one-horned rhinoceros, the royal Bengal tiger, bears, deer, and numerous other animals, reptiles, and birds.

Day 8: Drive from Chitwan to Kathmandu

The early morning will be dedicated to bird-watching, as Chitwan National Park is a haven for a wide variety of resident and migratory birds. After breakfast, we’ll drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 9: Departure

Today, we will send you to the airport approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight.
