Samburu, Aberdares, Lakes Nakuru & Naivasha, & Masai Mara

Samburu National Reserve, Aberdare National Park, Lakes Nakuru & Naivasha area and attractions & Masai Mara Game Reserve tour

  • 7 days

Overview

This is a diverse and exciting safari. There are many different parks and landforms, a range of wildlife and native cultures and people that you’ll have the opportunity to meet.

You’ll partake in exciting game drives on sun-draped savannahs and see great elephants and countless birdlife on shimmering mountain lakes. This safari offers a full week of fun, surprises and experiences that’ll never be forgotten.

Your first stop will be at the Samburu National Reserve, where you’ll find unusual species like Grevy’s zebras and reticulated giraffes. There’s also plenty of big game here such as lions, leopards, cheetahs and buffalo. The reserve is home to the Samburu people, whose villages dot the landscape.

Perhaps one of the most unique parks and certainly your most unique lodging will be your next stop, Aberdare National Park. Amidst rainforests and waterfalls, you’ll be staying at a tree hotel. From your balcony, you’ll look out on the park’s wildlife such as black rhinos, elephants, cape buffalo, antelopes and much more.

Then, you’ll be off to Lake Nakuru National Park. Along the way there, you’ll pass the scenic Thompson’s Falls.

Due to some natural factors like increasing water levels, the flamingo numbers have been reducing but the park itself remains stunning – one of Kenya’s finest. The great rocky escarpments tower over acacia forests, waterfalls, wooded hills and euphorbia trees.

The flamingos are accompanied by other birdlife – pelicans, cormorants, kingfishers, ostriches, storks, herons and eagles. The scenery here is beautiful.

But that’s only the beginning of what this special park has to offer. The wildlife viewing here is easy and accessible. Lake Nakuru is known for hosting some endangered but beautiful species. You’re sure to see the rare Rothschild’s giraffes as well as white rhinos, especially along the lakeshore.

The park is also home to one of Kenya’s largest populations of black rhinos, so get your camera ready!

Then, you’ll go on a short drive to Lake Naivasha. There, you’ll go on a boat safari over the beautiful lake. You’ll see hippos, birdlife, and small game on the shore. Then, at the nearby Crescent Island, you’ll be treated to a guided walking safari. You’ll stroll past zebras, impalas, giraffes and other small game.

The end of your busy week of immersive scenery and wildlife will be spent at the world-famous Masai Mara. Known for its incredible diversity of game, including the Big Five, the Mara has Africa’s richest eco-system. You’ll spend 2 nights here, seeing the best that Africa has to offer.

There will also be an opportunity for you to visit a Masai village, meet the Maasai people and learn about their unique history and culture. What a perfect way to end the perfect week.
